How do I clean the scum off of my bottle?

antique bottle127 How do I clean the scum off of my bottle?

muhaha asked: I recently found an antique Coca-Cola bottle in a river that is very shallow.... it was underneath a rock and in the mucky sand. Weird organism grew on it and scum built up. I succesfully cleaned the outside of the bottle... but the inside is a bit more stubborn.... what can i do to reveal this antique's true appearence?

Fill it up with vinegar or crush up a couple of denture fizzy tablets in water inside of it. Vinegar removes mineral deposits and the denture tablets do a great job of fizzing off murky plant goop, dirt, you name it.

Try putting vinegar or lemon juice in it or even baking soda mixed with vinegar and letting it set. I can’t guarantee that it will work, but i use these items to clean pots and pans and stains out of my clothes and I keep a spray bottle with vinegar and lemon juice mixed and i spray down my counters and clean them and my stove with it. Its the safest cleaner in the world. Vinegar is really strong though so be careful with it. It is kind of harsh on certain things. but you can try any of these items you never know what will work. Good Luck!!

Immerse the bottle in strong bleach solution (warm water). Make sure the bottle stays filled with the solution overnight. Set a heavy bowl on top of it, if neccessary. The next day, use a bottle brush to loosen the scum.

Caution! Wear old clothes when you do both procedures and set container in bathtub or outdoors before you start anything.

    Congratulations on finding the bottle!

put some bleach in it and soak it over night then rinse it out. if there is any thing still on the inside use a baby bottle brush to scrub in there and it should clean it. you might have to soak it in bleach longer and scrub some more but keep soaking and scrubbing it will come off some time.
