It looks like a coffee/tea server, probably antique. About 18" tall, thin, bottle-like neck, perhaps brass. The bulbous base of this ceramic(?) piece is beautifully, vividly painted in an all-over floral pattern.
My sister had this item on display with her antiques several years ago and I always admired it. Now, it's gone and neither her husband or her can recall the piece ever being in their possession!
If it's any help, I would guess that it was of Turkish or Middle Eastern origin. Please help by naming it and referencing a site where I might see a picture of a similar item. Thanks in advance to all serious replies.
The description needs to be updated:
1. urn-like piece with cover is more likely to be porcelain, and
2. could be English, French, or Japanese.
I've been continuing my search and have seen similar works which prompts me to update the details.

Sounds like a smoking device ..
